At 9.00 we had a tour scheduled for the Clock Tower in the Old Square. We walked to the nearest tram station, hopped on a tram and in 20 minutes we arrived somewhere near the Old Square.
Now I’m not going to lie and say the square was full of people.
It was literally SWARMING with hundreds of tourists hailing
from all the corners of this now minuscule Earth. I myself spotted the following: Americans, French, Russians, Indians, Brazilians, Spanish and even a group of Australians. It was a miniature Tower of Babel that Old Square. I fell in love instantly.
The tower itself had a Gothic influence in its appearance. The columns and outer walls were decorated with medieval and overall religious motifs. On a side there was the Astronomical Clock it was famous for. Angels, knights, kings, priests, fair maidens, grim reapers all stood guard on this mighty bastion of undying history and ever living culture. It was truly an awe-inspiring sight, and my eyes were unworthy of its beauty.
The next stop was St. Charles Cathedral. Bringing myself to describe this holy place is difficult, because as I first laid eyes on this magnificent structure, all thoughts escaped from my mind, and all i was left with was pure amazement.
Standing hundreds of feet tall, imposing any believer and non-believer alike, the cathedral could turn atheist in a very fervent believer in mere minutes. The Gothic influence was also visible, and large mosaic tiles were suspended above the main gate. Inside, the walls showed long forgotten saints and kings, and pictured events from the bible.
